When I say that I enjoy "building worlds" I quite literally mean from the ground up. I value immensely the creative process and know that it all begins around the table. A good design is discovered, not created. Through collaboration with directors and production staff I will strive to primarily serve the specific production, but secondarily generate a design that is artistically exciting and emotionally striking.

My background in Scenic Design, Scenic Construction, and Scenic Painting allows me the unique ability to be as involved in the process as any organization may require. In the design stage I have an artistic and theatrical mind that allows me to not only dream on a large scale, but understand challenges and limitations that come along with stage work. As a Designer I can effectively translate collaborative ideas into detailed drawings to more accurately convey mood, emotion, scale, depth, and shape.

 

In the construction stage my background as a Scenic Carpenter and Technical Director allow me the foresight to see what challenges any design may offer and how to over come such challenges. This training has given me acute knowledge of tools, materials, and the general methods to take a design from page to stage.

 

In the painting stage my background as a Scenic Painter allows me the unique ability to transform, through illusion, bare wood and metal into the living, breathing world that it was always meant to be. I have the technical knowledge of paints and tools combined with the artistic knowledge of techniques and methods to prepare any set for opening night eyes.
